Ottawa
Grandma, Aunt Mary, Mom, and I drove from Toronto to Ottawa on the May Long Weekend for the Canadian Tulip Festival. We stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel, and along with the Tulip Festival, took in the sights of Ottawa. We went to the Parliament Buildings and National Gallery, visited the Notre Dame Basilica, attended a concert of the National Arts Centre Orchestra (where the conductor of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra just happened to be guest performing!), and had tea at the Chateau Laurier. We also went on a bus tour of the city, a cruise on the Ottawa River, and a Steam Train trip through the Gatineau Hills in Quebec. On both the way there and back, we drove through the town of Brockville, and visited a beautiful old house that has been turned into a tea room.
